Job summary

Mr Price Group Careers is seeking an experienced security professional to guide security standards across its IT landscape in Durban. You will design security controls, monitor for threats, and perform routine assessments, with a focus on protecting endpoints and networks.

You will lead security testing, governance, and policy development, while training staff and mentoring junior team members to uphold enterprise security goals.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in a Security role.
• 5+ years in an Infrastructure Back-end support environment and deployment of enterprise solutions.
• Solid technical experience in Networking (LAN/WAN, FW/Routers/Switches/Wifi/DHCP/DNS/DMZ/Edge/Segmentation).
• Understanding of Security Operations Centre responses and procedures.
• Knowledge of multiple OS security, protocols, data leakage prevention, MDM, cloud solutions, IAM, penetration testing.
• Familiarity with NIST/SANS frameworks; scripting is a plus.
• Governance knowledge (POPI/Data Protection/PCI) and policy/procedure documentation.

Responsibilities

• Define, guide, and advise on security standards across the IT landscape.
• Design and configure security hardware and software.
• Identify intrusions on the network and endpoints; detect unauthorized access attempts.
• Provide security roadmap enhancements and options.
• Train employees on security best practices and mentor juniors.
• Monitor for cyber threats and perform security assessments.
• Prepare risk reports and action plans; update risk register.
• Conduct ethical hacking and security testing of the IT architecture.
• Draft policies, SOPs, and guidelines; review production changes.
