Job summary

Southern Housing currently seeks a compassionate Scheme Housing Officer to support residents across Independent Living, Sheltered, Extra Care and Over 55s schemes. You will be the visible face of Southern Housing, managing two or more schemes and helping residents live safely, independently and with confidence.

You will travel between schemes, build strong relationships, deliver responsive housing management and collaborate with partner agencies to achieve outstanding resident outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in care, support or housing services with understanding of relevant legislation
• Understanding of diverse needs of older people and ability to provide support and signposting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, face to face, by phone and in writing
• Experience delivering customer care and responding to complaints professionally
• Ability to work independently, manage time and prioritise competing demands
• Proactive, solution-focused with negotiation and influencing skills
• Confidence using IT and mobile technology to maintain records and support residents to use digital services
• Commitment to continuous improvement, learning and personal development
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Flexibility to travel across schemes and work extended hours to manage emergencies

Responsibilities

Job description

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient Scheme Housing Officer to support residents living in our Independent Living, Sheltered, Extra Care and Over 55s schemes. You'll be the visible face of Southern Housing, managing two or more schemes and helping residents live safely, independently and with confidence. You'll build strong relationships, provide responsive housing management, resolve issues quickly, and work with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver excellent resident outcomes.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Regular travel between schemes across Southwark and regional offices is required, with occasional attendance at meetings outside normal working hours.

About You

• Experience working in care, support or housing related services, with an understanding of relevant legislation and good practice
• An understanding of the diverse needs of older people and the ability to provide appropriate support and signposting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively face to face, by phone and in writing
• Experience delivering excellent customer care and responding to complaints professionally
• The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and prioritise competing demands
• A proactive, solution focused approach, with good negotiation and influencing skills
• Confidence using IT and mobile technology to maintain records, manage systems and support residents to use digital services
