Overview
Satāya is representing a distinguished luxury hospitality destination in the Cape Winelands. Known for beautifully appointed accommodation, exceptional dining and warm, personalised service, our client has built a strong reputation as one of South Africa's most respected luxury brands across both domestic and international markets.
They are now appointing a Hotel Sales Manager to lead commercial growth and deepen relationships with the global travel trade. This is a relationship-led role suited to someone who understands the luxury travel ecosystem and thrives on building long-term partnerships rather than transactional sales.
The successful candidate will work closely with Revenue, Reservations, Marketing and Operations to drive occupancy, grow agent and tour operator business, and position the property at the forefront of the international luxury travel market.
Key Responsibilities
1) Commercial Strategy and Growth
- Set and own the property's sales direction, with clear accountability for revenue and occupancy performance across leisure, group, exclusive-use and high-value guest segments.
- Prospect and convert new business across domestic and international markets, with a focus on growing high-value and repeat bookings.
- Continuously assess the commercial landscape to identify emerging channels, untapped segments and new revenue opportunities.
- Build and maintain annual sales plans for priority markets and key account partners, aligned to broader revenue objectives.
2) Travel Trade and Account Management
- Cultivate and sustain a strong network of global travel trade partners, including luxury travel advisors, tour operators, DMCs and concierge professionals.
- Prioritise the property's highest-performing agent relationships and invest consistently in growing their contribution.
- Lead commercial negotiations with travel partners, ensuring all agreements reflect the premium positioning of the brand.
- Represent the property in person through client meetings, presentations and hosted property experiences.
3) Market Presence and Industry Engagement
- Maintain an active presence across the international travel trade circuit, engaging at industry events, exhibitions and commercial roadshows.
- Host trade partners and media through tailored property experiences designed to build genuine, lasting affinity with the brand.
- Keep travel partners current and confident in representing the property through regular training and product education.
4) Revenue Collaboration and Reporting
- Partner closely with the Revenue team to ensure commercial activity is targeted at the segments and periods where it will have the greatest impact.
- Track and report on pipeline health, agent production, new business won and conversion performance.
- Compile clear, data-informed reporting for senior leadership to support commercial planning and forecasting.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A tertiary qualification in Hotel Management, Tourism, Marketing, Business Management or a related field is advantageous.
- Minimum five years' experience in hotel sales, luxury hospitality or tourism sales.
- A proven track record of building and growing long-term relationships within the international travel trade.
- Experience developing sales strategies that deliver measurable improvements in revenue and occupancy.
- Solid experience managing group, exclusive-use and high-value guest segments.
- International sales and market development experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and hotel booking systems is advantageous.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to read data, identify trends and act on them decisively.
- Highly organised and self-directed; comfortable owning a diverse workload independently.
- A natural relationship builder with strong interpersonal and networking instincts.
- Results-driven with a clear focus on meeting and exceeding commercial targets.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- Genuine passion for exceptional guest service and the luxury hospitality industry.
- Fluent Afrikaans and English, spoken and written — non-negotiable.
- Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Thorough knowledge of the South African and international luxury travel and hospitality market is advantageous.
