Job summary

wine.co.za is seeking a hotel sales professional to develop and implement strategies to boost occupancy and revenue in the luxury hospitality segment in South Africa. You will build strong relationships with local and international travel partners and drive national and international sales.

You will coordinate with Reservations, Revenue, Marketing and Operations, attend trade shows and events, and analyze market trends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel sales or luxury hospitality.
  • Proven track record with travel agents and tour operators.
  • Strong ability to develop sales strategies that drive revenue and occupancy.
  • Experience with group bookings and high-value guests.
  • Fluent Afrikaans and English communication.
  • Willingness to work weekends/public holidays when required.

  • Manage group and exclusive-use bookings and special events until handover to operations.
  • Coordinate site inspections and familiarisation trips for partners and media.
  • Collaborate with Reservations, Revenue, Marketing and Operations to hit targets.
  • Monitor sales activity, agent performance, new business and conversion rates.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis in luxury travel and hospitality.

  • Grow business from key markets, including the USA, UK, Germany, and South Africa.
  • Identify new markets, sales channels, and business opportunities to support hotel occupancy.
  • Plan and attend trade shows, roadshows, networking events, webinars, and sales trips.
  • Manage group enquiries, exclusive-use bookings, and special events until handover to the operational team.
  • Coordinate site inspections, educational visits, and familiarisation trips for travel partners and media.
  • Work closely with Reservations, Revenue, Marketing, and Operations to achieve sales and occupancy targets.
  • Monitor sales activity, agent performance, new business, and conversion rates.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis within the luxury travel and hospitality industry.
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel sales, luxury hospitality, or tourism sales.
  • Proven experience managing travel agent and tour operator relationships.
  • Experience developing sales strategies that drive revenue and occupancy.
  • Experience with group bookings, exclusive-use bookings, and high-value guests.
  • International sales and market development experience advantageous.
  • Experience attending trade shows, roadshows, sales trips, and networking events.
  • CRM and hotel reservation system experience advantageous.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Good commercial and financial understanding, including the ability to analyse sales data and market trends.
  • Knowledge of hotel revenue management principles.
  • Excellent Afrikaans and English communication skills.
  • Results-driven, proactive, highly organised, and able to work independently.
  • Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
