Job summary

SGS SA is seeking a motivated intern for Sales and Business Development within Testing, Inspection and Certification services in Cape Town (Maitland). You will assist in client enquiries, subcontractor sourcing, quotations, and market research while learning the CRS business line and expanding your professional network.

The role provides practical workplace experience, exposure to business development and commercial operations, and mentorship with long-term career growth opportunities within SGS.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent administrative and organisational abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to client enquiries relating to testing services.
• Source and engage suitable subcontract laboratories and service providers.
• Obtain quotations and turnaround times from laboratories and subcontractors.
• Support the preparation and submission of customer quotations.
• Maintain and update laboratory and supplier databases.
• Assist with lead generation and business development initiatives.
• Follow up on quotations and customer opportunities.
• Support customer relationship management activities.
• Conduct market research to identify potential customers and new service opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records and reports within company systems.
• Liaise with internal SGS business lines to identify additional service opportunities.
