Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer for mining operations in Randburg. The role focuses on implementing health and safety policies, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with SA mining regulations.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or higher in OHS, at least 3 years of experience, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Minimum 3 years as Safety Officer, mining or heavy industry preferred.
• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and SA safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to perform risk assessments and implement safety solutions.
• First Aid certification is advantageous.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Safety Officer to join their mining operations based in Randburg. This role is paramount in ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel, actively promoting a strong safety culture throughout the mine. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing health and safety policies, conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation in the Gauteng mining sector. The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses excellent communication skills, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of occupational health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems.


• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate safety risks and hazards.


• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.


• Deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels of the organization.


• Ensure compliance with all South African occupational health and safety legislation and mining regulations.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
