Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to join mining operations in Sandton. You will develop, implement, and enforce OHS protocols, conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety training to foster a culture of safety.

The role is hybrid, allowing on-site enforcement and remote documentation, policy development, and reporting to ensure compliance with South African safety regulations.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• SAMTRAC certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the mining industry.
• Thorough knowledge of OHS Act and other relevant South African safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both on-site and remotely in a hybrid capacity.

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits of all operational areas.
• Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff, ensuring awareness and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation and standards.
• Maintain safety records and documentation, including safety data sheets and inspection reports.
