Job summary

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Security Controller to supervise on-site security operations, manage loss prevention, and oversee high-risk stock. You will investigate incidents in real time, coordinate with the off-site CCTV monitoring centre, and ensure compliance with company policies and PSIRA requirements.

The role emphasizes on-site response, asset protection, and professional interaction with guests, staff and suppliers, with a focus on safety and procedural discipline.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• PSIRA Grade B or A accreditation is required.
• PSIRA registration is required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ retail security experience in a shopping mall environment.
• Experience with CCTV monitoring, incident reporting, access control and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Be vigilant to identify suspicious activities according to SOPs.
• Investigate signs of damage, tampering or unlawful entry and report immediately.
• Liaise with off-site CCTV monitoring centre for footage requests and evidence retrieval.
• Respond promptly to alerts from the off-site CCTV control room.
• Professionally receive and assist guests, customers, suppliers and employees.
• Protect company property and assets from theft, vandalism or other losses.
• Remain at the assigned post with heightened vigilance.
• Report unusual or suspicious behaviour by staff, customers or suppliers.
• Conduct and supervise opening and closing procedures with vigilance.
• Investigate purchase disputes at the dispensary/front line with CCTV review when needed.
• Monitor high-risk areas like Bin 1000 and other designated zones.
• Understand authority levels and escalation protocols.
