Job summary

Leroy Merlin South Africa is seeking a Senior Land Acquisition Lead to drive store development and expansion across the country. You will identify, assess and secure strategic land opportunities by leveraging your market insights and an extensive network of landowners, developers, and authorities.

You will oversee projects through multiple development stages, coordinate with executives, and ensure timely alignment with store opening schedules while maintaining a robust land-opportunity pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Real Estate or related field.
• Postgraduate qualification in Property Development is advantageous.
• 5+ years' experience in land acquisition or retail expansion.
• Strong understanding of town planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Market analysis to identify land opportunities and assess viability.
• Lead site visits to validate suitability for store expansion.
• Build and maintain a professional network of landowners and developers.
• Directly approach landowners to validate interest in opportunities.
• Coordinate monthly joint site visits with senior leadership.
• Prepare expansion proposals for review by the CEO.
• Monitor land-use change applications (rezonings, subdivisions).
• Maintain a pipeline of opportunities aligned to opening schedules.
• Participate in governance structures and project progress committees.
