Job summary

Leroy Merlin South Africa is seeking an experienced Senior Project Construction Manager to oversee end-to-end construction of large-format retail stores across South Africa. You will ensure projects meet global standards and specifications, delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams on-site, drive progress, uphold safety standards, and report to local executives and international stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Registration with SACPCMP, ECSA, or SACAP is highly desirable.
• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in commercial/retail construction management in South Africa.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale retail projects (shopping centres, big-box stores).
• Deep understanding of South African building contracts (JBCC, NEC, FIDIC).
• Advanced financial acumen in procurement and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction of new stores from breaking ground to hand over.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications and SA building regulations.
• Drive on-site progress, quality control, and safety (HSE).
• Perform cost analyses, scrutinize BOQs, and challenge budgets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
• Manage variation orders and negotiate pricing with contractors.
• Lead site meetings and report timelines, costs and risks to leadership.
