Job summary

Nile.ag is seeking a hands-on Retail Development Manager to drive the rollout and growth of its People's Market footprint. You will own site identification, deal making, store builds, and a scalable rollout playbook across commuter nodes, townships and rural towns.

Ideal candidates have a proven track record in opening outlets in diverse South African catchments, strong commercial judgement, and a willingness to travel extensively to sites and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience opening retail outlets in commuter nodes, townships or rural areas.
• Experience running store builds, budgets and timelines to delivery.
• Ability to read a store P&L and act on it.
• Willingness to travel and spend significant time at site.
• Valid driver’s licence and adaptable to new ways of working including AI.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and secure new retail sites in targeted catchments.
• Negotiate leases and approvals, building local stakeholder relationships.
• Manage end-to-end store build, from layout to opening day.
• Codify rollout playbooks to enable faster, cheaper store openings.
