About the Role

Our client is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Residential Care Worker with a specific focus on childcare to join their team in Rustenburg, North West . This is an on-site position where you will provide essential care, support, and guidance to children in a residential setting. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct daily care for children, including supervision, hygiene, and meal preparation.
• Create and maintain a safe, secure, and emotionally supportive living environment.
• Assist children with homework and educational activities, encouraging their academic progress.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate recreational and developmental activities.
• Manage challenging behaviours constructively and implement positive discipline strategies.
• Build trusting and supportive relationships with each child, understanding their individual needs and backgrounds.
• Transport children to and from school, appointments, and recreational activities.
• Communicate effectively with the care team, supervisors, and external stakeholders regarding child progress and concerns.
• Maintain accurate and detailed daily logs and incident reports.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and licensing regulations for child care facilities in North West .

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Childcare, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Proven experience working with children, preferably in a residential care or foster care setting.
• A deep understanding of child development stages and common behavioural challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing demanding situations.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and follow instructions diligently.
• Strong observational and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per roster.
• A clean criminal record check and valid First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation and best practices in Rustenburg .
