Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Electrical Systems Technician for Centurion, Gauteng, to ensure reliable operation of solar, battery storage and grid-connected components. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical systems, with a proactive, hands-on approach and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years' experience as an Electrical Technician in renewable energy.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits and power electronics.
• Proficient with multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers.
• Electrical trade qualification or tertiary qualification.
• Experience with SCADA or remote monitoring is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics/blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong health and safety awareness in electrical work.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain electrical systems including solar inverters, charge controllers, and battery management systems.
• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot faults and malfunctions.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with standards.
• Execute preventative maintenance schedules to maximize reliability.
• Respond to system alerts and emergencies with rapid resolution.
• Document maintenance activities, test results and performance data.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and improvements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and staff.
