Placements24 is seeking a Remote Renewable Energy Systems Technician to monitor and optimize solar PV and battery storage installations across South Africa. This fully remote role requires strong electrical knowledge, hands-on diagnostics, and the ability to troubleshoot from a distance.

You will work with SCADA platforms and client teams to diagnose faults, analyze performance data, and guide on-site technicians.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Technology, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in monitoring and maintenance of PV and/or battery storage.
• Strong knowledge of electrical principles, DC/AC circuits, and power electronics.
• Experience with SCADA systems and diagnostic software.
• Ability to interpret datasheets and performance curves.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to work remotely with minimal supervision.

Responsabilités

• Monitor PV arrays, inverters, and battery storage remotely.
• Diagnose faults and identify root causes.
• Provide guidance to on-site technicians for repairs.
• Analyze data to identify optimization opportunities.
• Maintain records of performance and maintenance.
• Generate performance reports for teams and clients.
• Ensure safety protocols for remote management.
• Stay updated on solar PV and storage tech.
• Communicate with field teams, PMs, and support.
• Contribute to tool and process improvements.
