Job summary

RWS is seeking AI Conversation Recording Contributors to join a Xhosa speech data collection project. This remote, freelance role involves recording spontaneous speech and annotating data to help evaluate speech recognition technologies.

You can work flexibly from home with approximately 2–4 hours daily; start immediately; rate is 8 USD per hour. Prior experience is not required, but attention to detail and native Xhosa fluency are essential.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Xhosa.
• Authentic pronunciation and familiarity with the language through everyday use.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided.
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording.
