Job summary

RWS is seeking AI Conversation Recording Contributors for a remote, freelance project focused on collecting spontaneous Xhosa speech to support evaluation and development of AI technologies.

Participants will record conversations in real-life contexts, annotate speech data, and provide metadata. The role is flexible with about 2–4 hours daily and starts immediately. Prior recording experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Xhosa.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided.
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording.
