Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to manage and optimize water and wastewater systems in Richards Bay, focusing on design, operation and maintenance of treatment plants, pipelines and pumping stations.

The role requires expertise in hydraulic modeling, GIS, and environmental compliance, with a strong emphasis on project delivery and sustainability within public health and environmental goals.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (EPANET, SWMM) and GIS.
• Experience with water treatment processes and stormwater management.
• Strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage the development of water supply, distribution, and wastewater collection systems.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for network optimization and capacity planning.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Develop and implement water conservation strategies and asset management plans.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and water quality standards.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
