Placements24 is seeking a diligent Remote Telecoms Network Administrator to manage and maintain network infrastructure from anywhere in South Africa. You will monitor network health, resolve issues, and implement upgrades to support business continuity and growth.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in network administration, experience with Cisco/Juniper/HP devices, and strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT or networking.
• 3–5 years of network administration experience, preferably in telecom.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper/HP hardware.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Remote Telecoms Network Administrator to manage and maintain their network infrastructure from anywhere in the country. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance, availability, and security using provided tools, identifying and resolving any anomalies.
• Administer and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
• Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to ensure data integrity.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, hardware/software problems, and user-reported issues efficiently.
• Implement network security best practices, including patching, vulnerability management, and access control.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, keeping records up-to-date for remote access .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in network administration, preferably within a telecoms environment.
• Proficiency with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network security principles.
• Experience with network monitoring software (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and self-discipline for remote work .
