Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Network Engineer for a remote-first role with occasional meetings near Stellenbosch. You will design, deploy and maintain robust network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across complex environments.

The ideal candidate has a degree in CS/Engineering, proven telecom network experience, and strong TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, VPN and security knowledge. Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on telecommunications.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VPNs, and network security.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage telecommunications network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot connectivity to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Implement network security measures and best practices.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate and integrate new technologies.
