Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join a remote team supporting infrastructure projects across regions, including Mahikeng area. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecom equipment ensuring reliable connectivity.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with TCP/IP, fiber optics, and network testing tools, and can work independently while communicating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or in a related networking role.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi), routing, and switching.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optics, copper cabling, and telecommunication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications hardware, including routers, switches, fiber optic equipment, and wireless systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity, equipment malfunctions, and service disruptions.
• Respond to service requests and provide technical support to end-users and field teams.
• Document network configurations, equipment status, and repair actions accurately.
• Stay current with advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices.
