Placements24 is seeking a Subsurface Data Engineer to join its fully remote technical team. You will design and optimize data workflows, build and maintain databases for geological, geophysical, and engineering data, and work with cross-border teams to improve data accessibility.

The role requires a 6+ year data engineering background in oil and gas, strong SQL/NoSQL, Python or R, and cloud experience (AWS/Azure).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, with a significant portion focused on the Oil & Gas sector or subsurface data.
• Proficiency in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust databases and data management systems for subsurface data.
• Develop and implement automated data workflows for data ingestion, validation, and transformation.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all subsurface datasets.
• Collaborate with geoscientists and engineers to understand their data needs and provide solutions.
• Develop data visualization tools and reports to facilitate data access and analysis.
• Implement data governance policies and best practices.
