Placements24 is seeking a Remote Subsurface Geologist with 6+ years in Oil & Gas exploration to interpret seismic data, build geological models, and assess hydrocarbon potential from a fully remote setting. You will collaborate with a dispersed team and contribute to exploration strategies worldwide, ensuring rigorous data analysis and clear technical reporting.

The role emphasizes independent work, strong communication, and the use of Petrel and Kingdom Suite for detailed subsurface

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or related earth science discipline
• At least 6 years of exploration geology experience in Oil & Gas
• Proficiency with geological interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and data analysis tools
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage time effectively
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for virtual teams near Pretoria or other sites

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic data, well logs, core samples, and outcrop data
• Develop geological models and maps of subsurface reservoirs
• Evaluate hydrocarbon potential and risks for exploration and development
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and subsurface professionals in a virtual team
• Plan and execute geological field programs and data acquisition strategies
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration opportunities
