Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Subsurface Data Manager to oversee the integrity and availability of geological and geophysical data. You will establish robust data governance frameworks and ensure high data quality to support exploration and production activities.

Working remotely, you will collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and IT specialists across a global team to implement efficient workflows and data management practices that drive operational success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of subsurface data management experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with Petrel, DLG, and RDM databases.
• Strong data quality, governance, and lifecycle knowledge.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote capacity.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Remote Subsurface Data Manager to oversee the integrity, accessibility, and utilization of geological and geophysical data within their organization. This critical role involves establishing and maintaining robust data management frameworks, ensuring high data quality, and implementing efficient workflows for subsurface information. Working from anywhere, you will collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and IT specialists to support exploration and production activities through effective data governance and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data governance policies and standards for subsurface data (geological, geophysical, engineering).
• Manage the acquisition, validation, storage, and retrieval of all subsurface data assets.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of subsurface databases and data management systems.
• Ensure data quality , consistency, and accuracy across all datasets.
• Develop and implement data security protocols and access controls.
• Provide training and support to users on data management tools and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in subsurface data management within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological and geophysical software and databases (e.g., Petrel, DLG, RDM).
• Strong understanding of data quality management , data lifecycle, and data governance principles.
• Experience with database management systems and IT infrastructure relevant to subsurface data.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a fully remote capacity.
