Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Smart Contract Developer to design, test, and deploy secure contracts for decentralized applications. You will work remotely with a Port Elizabeth–based team, focusing on Solidity, EVM, and best practices.

The role requires 2+ years in software development with at least 1 year in smart contracts, knowledge of Hardhat/Truffle/Foundry, and a strong security mindset. You’ll collaborate across backend and frontend teams and stay current with blockchain tech.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years of software development experience, with at least 1 year in smart contract development.
Proficiency in Solidity and experience with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Experience with development frameworks such as Hardhat, Truffle, or Foundry.
Understanding of blockchain fundamentals, cryptography, and consensus mechanisms.
Experience with testing frameworks for smart contracts.
Knowledge of common smart contract vulnerabilities and mitigations.
Basic understanding of web3 libraries (ethers.js, web3.js).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and deploy secure and efficient smart contracts on blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Polygon).
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
Collaborate with backend and frontend developers to integrate smart contracts into dApps.
Perform thorough code reviews and security audits of smart contracts to identify vulnerabilities.
Contribute to design and architecture of new blockchain features and protocols.
Stay up-to-date with latest developments in smart contract technologies, security, and best practices.
Troubleshoot and debug issues related to smart contract execution and deployment.
Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and contribute to technical discussions.
Research and evaluate new blockchain platforms and tools for potential use.
Ensure smart contract logic aligns with business requirements and tokenomics.
