Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecoms Network Engineer to join a fully remote, highly skilled engineering team. You will design, implement, and optimize a sophisticated telecoms infrastructure while collaborating with global teams on cutting-edge projects from Soweto and beyond.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience in telecom networking, expert routing knowledge (BGP/OSPF), and strong cloud networking skills across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications network engineering.
• Expert-level knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, MPLS, and network security.
• Experience with network virtualization technologies (e.g., SDN, NFV) and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and work effectively in a fully remote, global team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex enterprise and service provider networks, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Develop network architectures that support current and future business needs, focusing on scalability and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development and operations, to integrate network solutions.
• Mentor junior network engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth and knowledge sharing.
• Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to enhance network capabilities.
