Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Systems Biologist to join its translational medicine division. This fully remote role focuses on integrating and analyzing complex biological data from preclinical and clinical studies to uncover key pathways and mechanisms relevant to disease and drug response.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in Systems Biology or related field and 5+ years of experience, with strong Python/R skills and familiarity with KEGG/GO/Reactome.

Qualifications

• PhD in Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in systems biology or a related computational life science discipline.
• Proven experience in analyzing multi-omics data and constructing biological networks.
• Strong proficiency in Python or R and relevant bioinformatics libraries.
• Experience with pathway analysis tools and databases (e.g., KEGG, Gene Ontology, Reactome).
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
• Understanding of fundamental biological processes and disease mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply systems biology approaches to analyze large-scale multi-omics datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics).
• Construct and analyze biological networks and pathways to understand disease mechanisms and drug response.
• Integrate data from various sources, including preclinical models and clinical trials.
• Identify biomarkers predictive of drug efficacy and patient stratification.
• Collaborate with translational medicine teams to design studies and interpret results within a clinical context.
• Develop computational models to simulate biological systems and predict outcomes.
• Communicate findings clearly to scientific and clinical audiences.
• Stay current with advancements in systems biology and translational medicine.
• Contribute to research proposals, publications, and presentations.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to team knowledge building.
