Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Road Design Engineer to join a fully remote team in South Africa. You will oversee planning, design, and technical guidance for highway and urban road projects from your home office, ensuring compliance with SA standards.

Strong leadership, communication, and self-management are essential for success in this remote-first role. The role focuses on geometric design, traffic engineering principles, and proficiency with CAD-based design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Transportation or Road Design.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration is expected.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in road design engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer, SIDRA or VISSIM is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of road infrastructure projects, including geometric, intersection, and pavement design.
• Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents using CAD and related software.
• Conduct road capacity analyses and traffic impact studies.
• Ensure designs comply with South African road design standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with clients, government authorities, environmental consultants, and other stakeholders remotely.
• Perform site investigations and data analysis to inform design decisions.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for road design components.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior road design engineers.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices within the team.
