Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Transportation or Road Design.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration is expected.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in road design engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer, SIDRA or VISSIM is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of road infrastructure projects, including geometric, intersection, and pavement design.
• Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents using CAD and related software.
• Conduct road capacity analyses and traffic impact studies.
• Ensure designs comply with South African road design standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with clients, government authorities, environmental consultants, and other stakeholders remotely.
• Perform site investigations and data analysis to inform design decisions.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for road design components.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior road design engineers.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Experience with traffic modeling software (e.g., SIDRA, VISSIM) is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of geometric design principles, pavement engineering, and drainage design for roads.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, crucial for remote collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in contract administration and site supervision is a plus.
