Placements24 is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst to join a leading hedge fund's trading strategies team. The role is based in Richards Bay with a fully remote arrangement, enabling contribution from anywhere while collaborating with a global team.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master’s in a quantitative field and has a proven track record in developing, backtesting, and implementing complex trading algorithms and risk models using large datasets.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Mathematics, Physics, CS, Statistics, Financial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years in quantitative finance, algo trading or similar role.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Java with libraries like NumPy/Pandas/SciPy.
• Proficiency in statistical modeling, time series analysis, ML and econometrics.
• Experience with financial market data and trading platforms.
• Ability to backtest complex trading strategies and develop risk models.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement quantitative trading strategies across asset classes.
• Backtest and statistically analyze trading models for performance and risk.
• Build and maintain high-frequency trading systems and infra.
