Placements24 is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead remote product development initiatives across South Africa, overseeing ideation through validation. You will drive design, prototyping, and testing using CAD/CAE tools while coordinating with marketing, manufacturing and supply chain for successful launches.

The role demands 10+ years in product development, strong leadership and exceptional communication, with full remote work from anywhere in SA.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
10+ years of progressive experience in product development and engineering design.
Proven expertise in CAD/CAE software and PLM systems.
Demonstrated success in launching new products to market.
Exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to excel in a fully remote, collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end product development process, from ideation and concept generation to detailed design and validation.
Utilize advanced CAD and simulation tools to design, analyze, and optimize product performance.
Oversee prototyping activities and conduct rigorous testing to ensure product reliability and functionality.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain, to ensure successful product launches.
Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for product development initiatives.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the remote team.
