Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Chemical Engineer to remotely support operations near Nelspruit, focusing on optimizing design, operation and safety of petrochemical processes. You will engage in process design, troubleshooting and debottlenecking for major projects from a remote location.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in chemical engineering with petrochemical focus, strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics and mass transfer, and proficiency in Aspen HYSYS or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in chemical engineering with a significant focus on petrochemical processes.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass transfer principles.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize petrochemical processes, including reaction, separation, and purification units.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling using software such as Aspen HYSYS or PRO/II.
• Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve efficiency and yield.
• Collaborate with project teams on the design and implementation of new process equipment and modifications.
• Prepare technical documentation, including P&IDs, process descriptions, and operational procedures.
