Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer for a remote-first role supporting a global client base. You will design, deploy, and manage enterprise networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring security and high availability.

You will document architectures, troubleshoot complex issues, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with distributed teams to implement scalable solutions using TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in network engineering with enterprise-scale design & management.
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
• Experience with network security incl. VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
• Hands-on with network monitoring tools for performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Develop and maintain network architecture documentation, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness for future reference and onboarding.
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and minimize downtime.
• Implement and manage network security protocols and measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and optimal user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators and software developers, to integrate network solutions with other IT systems.
• Stay abreast of emerging network technologies and trends, evaluating their potential application to enhance our client's infrastructure.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical network incidents, ensuring swift resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on designing and managing enterprise-level networks.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.
• Proven experience with network security principles, including VPNs, firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto), and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix) for performance analysis and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective remote collaboration and client interaction.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+) are highly advantageous.
