Job summary

Placements24 in Pretoria is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive process improvements from a remote home office. You will analyze, design, and implement manufacturing technologies to boost efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness, collaborating with R&D, production and QA.

The role requires 6+ years of experience, expertise in SPC, DOE, and lean methods (5S, VSM, SMED), and CAD for layout/design. Strong remote collaboration and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing process engineering.
• Experience with lean tools: 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED.
• Strong knowledge of SPC, DOE and statistical quality control techniques.
• CAD software experience for process layout and tooling design is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Strong communication and remote collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple remote projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify efficiency, quality, and cost improvements.
• Design, develop and implement new processes and technologies.
• Use SPC/DOE to monitor process capability and performance.
• Lead Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and document SOPs and work instructions for processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering and R&D on new products for manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate new equipment and tooling to enhance capabilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and share process engineering best practices.
