Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead remote geotechnical design and risk management for global mining projects. You will assess ground conditions, develop slope stability analyses, and coordinate with site teams remotely to ensure safe, efficient mine operations.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of mining geotechnical experience, expertise in rock/soil mechanics, and proficiency with FLAC, Plaxis, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive geotechnical experience in mining.
• Expertise in rock mechanics, soil mechanics and slope stability.
• Experience conducting remote geotechnical investigations and assessments.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct remote assessments of geotechnical conditions for mining operations.
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs including slope stability analyses and foundation designs.
• Perform risk assessments for seismic activity, rockbursts, and hazards.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams via remote channels.
• Review and approve geotechnical investigation plans and reports.
• Develop ground monitoring programs using remote sensing and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with mine planners and geologists to integrate geotechnical considerations into design.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Stay current with geotechnical software and methodologies.
