Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Geotechnical Engineer to support nationwide mining operations. The role focuses on evaluating ground conditions, designing support systems, and assessing slope stability without on-site presence.

You will analyze data, develop models, and provide remote guidance to mine planning teams. The ideal candidate has a MSc in Geotechnical/Mining Engineering with 5+ years in mining, proficiency in Rocscience/Maptek, and a strong grasp of rock/soil

Qualifications

• MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience in mining.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as Rocscience (Phase2, Slide), Maptek, or similar.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and slope stability principles.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex geological and geotechnical data.
• Proven ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical assessments of underground and open-pit mining environments remotely.
• Develop geotechnical models and stability analyses for excavations, slopes, and mine infrastructure.
• Recommend appropriate ground support systems and stabilization measures based on data analysis.
• Review and interpret geological and geotechnical data collected by field teams.
• Provide technical guidance and support to mine planning and operations personnel via digital platforms.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of geotechnical risk management strategies.
