Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience in the mining industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical analysis and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and hydrogeology as they apply to mining.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
• Excellent written communication and reporting skills for detailed technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive geotechnical assessments for open pit and underground mining operations, focusing on slope stability, ground support, and excavation design.
• Conduct detailed numerical modeling and analysis using geotechnical software (e.g., FLAC, Plaxis) to evaluate risks and failure mechanisms.
• Develop and recommend ground support systems, stabilization techniques, and monitoring protocols.
• Review and interpret geotechnical investigation data, including boreholes, CPTs, and geophysical surveys.
• Collaborate remotely with site-based engineering teams to provide expert advice and solutions on geotechnical challenges.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide geotechnical standards and best practices.
