Placements24 is assisting a prestigious international engineering consultancy in recruiting a Remote Senior Electrical Engineer. You will lead electrical design for diverse building and infrastructure projects, specifying systems, writing technical docs, and ensuring compliance with SA standards. This role emphasizes remote collaboration, mentorship of junior engineers, and delivering high-quality designs across locations.

The ideal candidate has a decade of experience, Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering design, with focus on building/construction sectors.
• Experience designing power distribution, lighting, LV/MV systems, and control systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, DIALux or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of South African electrical regulations and standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and client management skills for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for building and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs including power, lighting, earthing and protection.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings and calculations.
• Perform load calculations and energy efficiency analyses.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS, local authority regulations and international best practices.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, and other disciplines in a remote setting.
• Review submittals, respond to queries, and provide remote/onsite support as needed.
• Mentor junior electrical engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on new regulations and technological advancements.
