The ideal candidate has a decade of experience, Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering design, with focus on building/construction sectors.
• Experience designing power distribution, lighting, LV/MV systems, and control systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, DIALux or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of South African electrical regulations and standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and client management skills for remote work.

Responsabilités

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious international engineering consultancy, is seeking an accomplished Remote Senior Electrical Engineer to join their esteemed design team. This is a fully remote opportunity, enabling you to work from any location in South Africa. You will take the lead on the electrical design for a variety of complex construction projects, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure. Your responsibilities will encompass conceptualization, detailed design, specification writing, and providing expert technical advice. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and regulatory compliance, capable of delivering exceptional results in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for building and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and protection systems.
• Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, drawings, and calculations.
• Conduct site visits and surveys (where feasible and necessary) for existing conditions and project verification.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African national standards (SANS), local authority regulations, and international best practices.
• Perform load calculations, energy efficiency analyses, and voltage drop assessments.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, architects, other engineering disciplines, and construction teams in a remote setting.
• Review contractor submittals, respond to queries, and provide on-site support (if required remotely or on-site).
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and technicians.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements and new regulations in electrical engineering.

Requirements
