Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in power systems design and analysis.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, ETAP or PSS/E preferred.
• Knowledge of power distribution principles, protection schemes and equipment specs.

Responsibilities

• Design single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings for power distribution.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and harmonic analyses using software.
• Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, gensets, MCCs, cabling.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and client specs.
• Collaborate remotely with PMs, other disciplines and clients.
• Develop BOMs and assist procurement; support construction and testing phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and detailed construction drawings for power distribution systems.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and harmonic analysis using specialized software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
• Specify electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, generators, motor control centers, and cabling.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes (e.g., SANS, NEC), and client specifications.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and clients to define project requirements and deliverables.
• Conduct technical reviews of designs prepared by others and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and assist in the procurement process for electrical components.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and testing phases of projects.
• Stay current with technological advancements in power systems engineering and design tools.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and project proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on experience in power systems design and analysis.
• Proficiency in electrical design and simulation software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar.
• Solid understanding of power distribution principles, protection schemes, and equipment specifications.
• Experience in designing systems for industrial facilities, commercial buildings, or renewable energy projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote team setting.

• Familiarity with South African electrical regulations and standards is a significant advantage.
