Placements24 is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will enhance and maintain scalable infrastructure, automate deployments, and ensure reliability across distributed teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in DevOps/SRE, strong cloud and containerization skills, and expertise in CI/CD, IaC, and monitoring. Join a collaborative team and contribute to cloud-native operations from anywhere in SA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in a DevOps or SRE role.
• Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Networking, security, and system administration basics.
• Monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Excellent remote-work communication and independant work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deploy.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform or Ansible.
• Manage cloud infra (AWS, Azure, GCP) for high availability.
• Implement and manage Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Automate operational tasks to boost efficiency.
• Collaborate with development and QA for smooth delivery.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide proactive fixes.
• Build robust logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Enforce security best practices across environments.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production support.
