Job summary

Placements24 client, a dynamic software development house in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to streamline CI/CD, IaC, and cloud infrastructure in a remote-first environment.

You design pipelines, automate deployments, manage Terraform/Ansible, and oversee AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring stacks. You’ll mentor juniors and collaborate with Dev & QA teams to ensure reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years in DevOps/SRE roles with CI/CD experience.
• Proven CI/CD pipeline design using Jenkins, GitLab CI or CircleCI.
• Strong scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell) skills.
• Extensive cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and core services.
• Hands-on IaC experience with Terraform/Ansible; Docker and Kubernetes expertise.
• Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication, able to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Manage cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) with high availability and scalability.
• Implement containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system health.
• Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Enforce security best practices across development and deployment.
• Collaborate with development and QA to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Stay current with emerging DevOps tools and methodologies.
