Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a remote-first mining analytics team. You will build predictive models for ore grade, equipment performance, and operational efficiency, leveraging large, diverse datasets and cutting-edge ML techniques.

You will collaborate with domain experts, design experiments, and communicate insights to stakeholders, driving data-informed decisions across global operations.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in data science and machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Strong experience with SQL and database technologies.
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and deploy ML models for prediction, classification, and optimization in mining context.
• Analyze large datasets from geological, operational, and sensor data.
• Collaborate with domain experts to identify data-driven solutions to business challenges.
• Design and implement A/B tests to evaluate model performance and impact.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of advancements in data science, ML, and AI.
