Placements24 is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to oversee end-to-end management of complex commercial contracts in a fully remote South Africa role.

You will draft, review, negotiate, and supervise supplier, service level and partnership agreements, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with business objectives. This role requires collaboration with sales, procurement and finance and a proactive, remote-friendly approach.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Contracts Manager to join their growing legal team. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa, though proximity to major hubs like Durban is beneficial for occasional team gatherings. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of complex commercial contracts, ensuring legal compliance and supporting business objectives. This role is crucial for maintaining robust contractual relationships and mitigating risks for the organization, operating from a remote-first perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service level agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Ensure all contracts are legally sound, compliant with relevant South African laws and company policies, and align with business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including sales, procurement, and finance departments, to understand contract requirements and facilitate timely execution.
• Manage contract lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, and terminations, maintaining accurate records within the contract management system.
• Identify and advise on contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Conduct legal research on contract-related matters and provide clear, concise advice.
• Develop and implement best practices for contract management and standard contract templates.
• Liaise with external legal counsel when specialized advice is required, managing those relationships effectively.
• Ensure clear communication of contract terms and obligations to relevant internal teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract management processes and systems, adapting to evolving remote work dynamics.

Requirements

• A relevant Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in contract management, commercial law, or a related legal field, preferably with in-house experience.
• Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and interpret complex contracts.
• Strong understanding of South African contract law and commercial principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in contract management software and standard office productivity tools.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Proactive and results-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working autonomously and collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
