Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Property Underwriter to join a growing team. This fully remote role can be performed from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, with responsibility for evaluating, pricing, and managing a portfolio of commercial property risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial property underwriting.
• Strong understanding of property insurance policies, endorsements, and rating methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
• Proven ability to manage a portfolio of accounts and build strong broker relationships.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial property insurance applications, assessing risks and determining coverage, terms, and pricing.
• Manage a portfolio of commercial property accounts, building and maintaining broker relationships.
• Conduct thorough risk analyses using financial data, property inspections, hazard assessments, and other information.
• Collaborate with claims, legal, and marketing teams to ensure service delivery and product development.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling related insurance products.
• Mentor and support junior underwriters with best practices.
• Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging property risks.
