Sage in South Africa is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a fully remote team serving Gauteng clients. The role emphasizes financial reporting, VAT reconciliations, and strategic planning in a dynamic, regulated environment.

You will lead monthly close, review ledgers, prepare statements, and mentor two junior accountants. A BCom and 3+ years’ experience are required, with growth into broader financial leadership opportunities in Johannesburg/Sandton.

Qualifications

• BCom Degree is required.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong experience in VAT reconciliations.
• Experience preparing management reports.
• Supervisory experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly management reports.
• Perform VAT reconciliations and ensure VAT reporting.
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
• Monitor financial transactions and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month-end reporting and financial control processes.
• Lead, guide and review the work of two junior accountants.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
