Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Process Chemical Engineer to join a fully remote team supporting operations in Gauteng. You will optimize existing chemical processes, develop new ones, and collaborate with site engineers and plant managers through virtual channels.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in process design and scale-up, and strong skills in process simulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in process design, optimization, and scale-up in the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for virtual collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical manufacturing processes for improved yield, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and scale up new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and full production levels.
• Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) for design and troubleshooting.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance to plant operations teams.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in chemical engineering.
