Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Public Relations Officer to lead remote PR efforts for the George, Western Cape region. You will craft compelling narratives, manage media relations, and ensure consistent brand messaging across channels.

You will operate independently in a fully remote setting, developing strategies, monitoring media coverage, coordinating press materials, and supporting crisis communications while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of PR or related communications experience.
• Proven ability to write press releases and media kits.
• Strong knowledge of the South African media landscape.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective public relations strategies.
• Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public statements.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media influencers.
• Monitor media coverage and track key performance indicators related to PR campaigns.
• Respond to media inquiries and manage interview requests efficiently.
• Assist in the development of communication plans for new initiatives and product launches.
• Support crisis communication efforts as needed, ensuring clear and timely messaging.
• Manage the company's social media presence from a PR perspective, coordinating content where applicable.
• Organize virtual press conferences and media briefings.
• Analyze public perception and provide insights to internal stakeholders.
