Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join a distributed, remote-first team spanning multiple locations, including Soweto. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing robust security across networks to safeguard assets and data from evolving threats.

You will lead design and deployment of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection while monitoring threats and conducting testing to identify weaknesses. Certifications are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering or similar role.
• Proficiency with network security hardware and software from leading vendors.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network architecture.
• Experience with cloud security and network segmentation is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or CEH are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Monitor network traffic and security alerts for potential threats and breaches.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Respond to security incidents, providing timely containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Stay current with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies.
