Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join their security team in Soweto. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure infrastructure to protect systems and data from cyber threats.

You will work on security technologies, incident response, vulnerability management, and collaborate with IT teams to embed security best practices in deployments. On-site position with opportunities for certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in cyber security engineering or related technical role.
• Strong understanding of network security, operating systems, and cloud security principles.
• Experience with SIEM tools and security automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
• Monitor security alerts and investigate potential incidents, leading response and recovery efforts.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into configurations and deployments.
• Stay current with emerging cyber threats and technologies, proposing effective countermeasures.
