Job summary

ATS Client is seeking a Network Security Engineer for a 24-month hybrid contract in Pretoria. The role focuses on protecting enterprise networks, designing secure solutions, and overseeing security platforms such as firewalls, IPS, VPNs, and ISE. Expect on-site presence 2-3 days a week.

The candidate should have 7+ years in network security, relevant certifications (CCNP Security or CISSP), and a strong background in incident response and ISO/IEC 27002 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 6-8 years Network Security experience.
• Certifications CCNP Security or CISSP required or equivalent.
• 7+ years' experience in network security engineering or related fields.
• Experience managing enterprise-scale security infrastructure.
• Experience with ISO/IEC 27002 standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust network security infrastructure.
• Manage security platforms including firewalls, IPS, DDoS tools, VPNs, Secure Email Gateways, and ISE.
• Monitor traffic for anomalies and respond to security incidents.
• Support incident response and forensic analysis to contain events.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and ISO/IEC 27002 standards.
• Oversee lifecycle management of digital certificates and third-party connections.
• Use Remedy workflow to manage security requests and incidents.
• Maintain technical documentation and audit logs for risk reporting.
• Collaborate with teams to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen network defence.

Join our team as a Network Security Engineer on a 24-month hybrid contract in Pretoria, where you'll help safeguard critical infrastructure and design secure, scalable network solutions. This role requires 2-3 days per week on-site.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust network security infrastructure to protect Customer's digital environment.
• Manage and optimize security platforms including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), DDoS mitigation tools, VPNs, secure email gateways, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
• Monitor network traffic to detect anomalies, investigate potential threats, and respond promptly to security incidents.
• Conduct forensic analysis and support incident response to ensure timely containment and resolution of security events.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, ISO/IEC 27002 standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the lifecycle management of digital certificates and the secure provisioning of third-party network connections.
• Manage and resolve network security requests and incidents through the Remedy system within agreed service levels.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, configurations, and incident logs to support audits and risk reporting.
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify vulnerabilities, recommend security enhancements, and strengthen overall network defence.

Requirements

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in information security, Computer Science, OR Matric with 6-8 years of Network Security experience.
• Certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, or equivalent industry-recognised credentials.
• 7+ years' experience in network security engineering or related fields.
• Proven ability to manage and maintain enterprise-scale security infrastructure.
• Strong background in incident response, threat mitigation, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience in regulated environments with adherence to ISO/IEC 27002 standards.
